Competition Terms and Conditions

To enter the competition you should be:

  1. A decision-maker or influencer in a company that sends out catalogues, a consultant in the catalogue industry, or a decision-maker or influencer in an advertising, design, marketing or PR agency; and
  2. 18 years old or over at the time of entry.
  3. The competition is not open to employees (or members of their immediate families) of TA Design Ltd, or to any other person directly connected with this competition.
  4. There is no purchase necessary to enter, and no charge for entering the competition, although entrants will be responsible for the cost of their internet access.
  5. Only one entry per company or consultant. However, companies that produce more than one catalogue can enter once for each catalogue, provided they identify each catalogue on the entry form.
  6. You should enter the competition via the website at www.tadesign.co.uk/freedesign Alternatively you can send your answers to the questions and tie-break question, together with your name, job title, company name, address and e-mail address by e-mail to: info@tadesign.co.uk
  7. Sending an e-mail is not proof that we have received your entry. No responsibility can be accepted for entries that are lost or delayed, or which are not received for any reason.
  8. The winner will be the entrant who answers the most questions correctly and whose tie-break answer is selected to be the best of the entries by the judges.
  9. All entries must be received by 3pm Thursday 1st December 2011, and TA Design Ltd reserves the right to amend the competition end date at any time.
  10. The winner will be announced at ECMOD on Thursday 1st December 2011. If you win the competition, we will notify you by post and e-mail within one week of the close of the competition. The judges' decision will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  11. If the winner turns out to be ineligible, or declines the prize for any reason, TA Design reserves the right to decide whether or not to have an alternative winner selected.
  12. You can find out who has won the competition by visiting www.tadesign.co.uk or by sending a stamped addressed envelope to: Competition, TA Design Ltd, 120 Western Road, Hove, East Sussex BN3 1DB, after the closing date.
  13. The panel of judges will be comprised of members of the TA Design team and an independent industry figure.
  14. The prize may be transferable to another company on request, at the sole discretion of TA Design.
  15. No part of a prize is exchangeable for cash or any other prize.
  16. Incorrectly completed or incomplete entries may be disqualified.
  17. This competition is being run by TA Design Ltd of 120 Western Road, Hove, East Sussex BN3 1DB.
  18. Our Privacy Policy which tells you how we use any personal information we may collect about you.
  19. By entering this competition, entrants agree to be bound by these competition rules.
  20. By entering the competition the winner agrees to participate in such promotional activity and material as TA Design may require.
  21. TA Design Ltd reserves the right to amend these competition rules at any time without prior notice. Any change to the competition rules will be displayed on the TA Design website.
  22. TA Design Ltd reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition at any time, without prior notice.
  23. TA Design Ltd reserves the right to disqualify entrants for any breach of these competition rules. TA Design Ltd's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  24. The competition will be governed by the laws of England and Wales.
  25. The prize will be for up to £7,200 worth of creative work at rate card, to refresh an existing catalogue of up to 32 pages.
  26. The timing of the makeover will be subject to agreement by the winner and TA Design Ltd.
  27. The makeover will not be a rush. TA Design undertake to aim to complete it within 4 months of receiving a detailed brief, but cannot guarantee this delivery time. This timing does not include additional time caused by any delay while reference, photography or other elements are organised.
  28. The makeover will consist of:

    Brief from client to include:

    product high resolution scans with correct coding and clipping paths.
    draft copy/ref in InDesign, Quark or Word files (with product code to tie in with scans).
    previous catalogue collected InDesign or Quark pages for reference (including any logos or graphics to be used).
    supply of pagination listing by spread, indicating hero products.
    TA Design Ltd will provide:
    Cover, intro spread and product spread concepts.
    Design of catalogue from agreed concepts to final artwork, including:

    1. design of all spreads, supplied for checking as low resolution PDFs (V1s) (including up to 3 sets of client amends - V2s, V3s, V4s);
    2. Production of and checking Quark artwork, ready for production of high res pdfs for supply to printer;
    3. checking all high res scans for problems, checking all necessary clipping paths are present, flight checking.

    Front cover, intro page, and product copy, if required.
    Production of high res PDFs to the printer's specifications and delivery via email or FTP site.

N.B. Subject to final briefing. Exclusive of deliveries and other external production costs (eg couriers). Exclusive of production, purchase or hire of photography or illustration. All other suppliers, e.g. photographers and printers, to estimate and invoice direct to the client, having a direct financial relationship with the client, and not through TA Design Ltd. Printers to provide final colour proofs to client for client approval. Exclusive of art direction. Exclusive of external project management, including liaising with suppliers. Exclusive of scanning transparencies, and repro work (e.g. clipping paths, colour retouching, image manipulation). Exclusive of colour lasers, and any proofs. Exclusive of travel and subsistence. All InDesign and Quark files remain the physical property of TA Design Ltd in perpetuity. All work remains the intellectual property of TA Design Ltd in perpetuity, unless separately agreed. Subject to current TA Design Ltd terms & conditions. Competition closes: 3pm Thursday 1st December 2011.
